This agreement is designed to protect both you and MJ Costello Photography while ensuring a seamless, enjoyable experience from the moment you book until your images are safely in your hands.

 

The Experience

Senior photography isn’t about stiff poses or forced smiles. It’s about telling your story. The places that feel like home. The passions that make you who you are. The confidence you’ve grown into and the excitement of everything still waiting ahead. Whether you’re adventurous, quiet, athletic, artistic, or somewhere in between, your session is designed around you.

My role is to guide you naturally while creating an experience that feels relaxed, genuine, and fun. You’ll never be expected to know how to pose. I’ll provide direction every step of the way while leaving room for authentic moments that reflect your personality.

 

Booking Your Session

Your session date is officially reserved once this agreement has been signed and the required retainer has been received. Because only a limited number of senior sessions are accepted each season, all retainers are non-refundable. Your retainer reserves your session date and allows time for planning, communication, and preparation tailored specifically to your experience.

The remaining balance is due 24 hours before your session.

 

Location & Travel

Your session location plays an important role in creating photographs that feel authentic and personal. Sessions may take place in natural outdoor settings, urban environments, your family property, your school, or another meaningful location. Suggestions are always welcome, and I’m happy to help choose a location that complements your style and vision.

Travel within the included service area is complimentary. Locations outside that area may require an additional travel fee, which will always be discussed before booking. Some parks, gardens, schools, or private properties require permits or entrance fees. Any applicable fees are the responsibility of the client unless otherwise agreed upon.

Multiple locations are available depending on the collection you’ve selected.

 

Weather 

Natural light is one of the most important elements of my work. If weather conditions create an unsafe environment or compromise the quality of your session, we will happily choose another date together.

Rescheduled sessions must take place within 90 days of the original session date, subject to availability. If additional reschedules are requested, a new retainer may be required.

Life happens, and I understand that unexpected situations arise. Clients may reschedule their session one time with at least 24 hours notice. Rescheduled sessions must take place within 90 days of the original session date, subject to availability. If additional reschedules are requested, a new retainer may be required.

 

During Your Session

Please arrive a few minutes early so we can settle in without feeling rushed. Clients arriving late understand that session time cannot always be extended due to other scheduled appointments. Sessions ending early because of lateness will not receive refunds or discounts. If MJ is delayed every effort will be made to provide the full scheduled session time.

Relax. You do not need modeling experience. Throughout your session, I’ll guide you into natural poses while encouraging genuine movement and authentic expression. Parents are warmly welcomed to attend the session. 

 

Artistic Vision

When you choose MJ Costello Photography, you’re choosing a signature artistic style developed through years of experience. Each gallery is carefully curated and individually edited to reflect that vision.

Images are selected based on composition, lighting, expression, storytelling, and overall quality. Duplicate images, test photographs, missed focus, blinking, or unflattering expressions are thoughtfully removed during the culling process and are not included in the final gallery. RAW unedited images will not be offered or granted.

 Editing includes:

•Color correction

•Exposure adjustments

•Minor skin retouching

•Removal of temporary blemishes

•Minor distractions within the environment

Requests for body reshaping, face swapping, extensive digital manipulation, or alterations that significantly change a person’s natural appearance are not included.

 

Gallery Delivery

Your final gallery will be delivered approximately 2 weeks after your session unless otherwise communicated. Each image is individually hand-edited to ensure your gallery reflects the quality, consistency, and experience that define MJ Costello Photography.

Your photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery where they may be viewed, downloaded, shared, and used to order professional artwork.

Please download and safely back up your images promptly. Online galleries remain active for 30 days.

 

Printing Your Artwork

Your senior portraits deserve more than a place on your phone. They deserve to become tangible reminders of one of life’s most meaningful milestones. Whether displayed as fine art on your walls, preserved in a handcrafted heirloom album, or gifted to loved ones, professionally printed artwork allows these memories to be experienced for generations.

While you are welcome to print your images using your personal print release, MJ Costello Photography cannot guarantee the quality of products produced by consumer printing labs. For the highest quality, clients are encouraged to print through MPIX or another professional printing lab. 

The quality of your prints depends just as much on the print lab as it does on the photograph itself. For that reason, I strongly encourage you to avoid one-hour photo labs, grocery stores, pharmacies, discount retailers, and other consumer printing kiosks. Professional labs use archival-quality papers, premium inks, and calibrated printing processes that preserve the richness, detail, and longevity of your artwork. 

 

Copyright & Personal Use

All photographs created by MJ Costello Photography remain protected under United States Copyright Law and are the exclusive intellectual property of MJ Costello Photography. MJ retains full copyright ownership of every photograph.

Your collection includes a personal print release, allowing you to print your photographs for personal enjoyment and share them on personal social media accounts. Images may not be edited, altered, filtered, cropped in a manner that changes the artistic presentation, sold, submitted for publication, or used commercially without prior written permission.

 

Sharing Your Story

One of the greatest compliments you can give is allowing your photographs to inspire future seniors. Unless otherwise requested, MJ Costello Photography may use select images for portfolio display, social media, website galleries, studio samples, educational opportunities, competitions, and promotional materials.

If you prefer your gallery remain completely private, please notify me before your session. Your wishes will always be respected.

  

Unexpected Circumstances

Should illness, injury, family emergency, severe weather, equipment failure, or other circumstances beyond reasonable control prevent the session from taking place, every reasonable effort will be made to reschedule.

 If the session cannot be completed or rescheduled due solely to circumstances affecting the Photographer, all payments received will be refunded. This refund shall constitute the Photographer’s maximum liability.

 

Limitation of Liability

While every reasonable effort is made to produce and preserve photographs, the Photographer is not liable for circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to equipment failure, memory card corruption, theft, accidental loss of files, or unforeseen technical issues. If images are lost due to circumstances within the Photographer’s control and no replacement session can be provided, liability shall be limited to the return of all payments made.
